Using retractable ratchet straps is pretty straightforward. First, open the strap and unroll it so it’s comfortable to work with. Hook the strap on one side of the object you’re tying down, then pull the strap out and hook it on the other side. To tighten it, just push and pull the handle up and down, giving it a few pumps until it’s snug. Before moving on, make sure the object is secure. Once everything’s tight, push the handle down to lock it in place, and you’re good to go!
How to undo a retractable ratchet strap?
It all depends on the type of retractable ratchet strap you’re using! For the ones designed to tie down a kayak, all you need to do is open the handle to the 90-degree position (some straps go to 180 degrees), unhook the straps, and they’ll automatically retract. It’s that simple!

The loading limit
Some of the straps have a 3000lbs loading limit which is great for most applications, but there are some more specialized straps that can handle up to 6000lbs. This is great for heavier-duty uses or for transporting multiple objects at once. In general, though, the loading limit is usually 500lbs or less per strap which is perfect for most situations and objects. Always be sure to check the limit before purchasing to make sure it will work for your needs.
